Greetings, and Welcome to The Thugbrarian Review. I am here to review books and music that I enjoy, because I have really good taste, and since you are reading this, I automatically assume that you have good taste as well. My name is Joseph L. Annaruma, and I am a Public Librarian by trade. I am 6 foot 3 inches, and 235 lbs, and despite my sunny disposition, some of my colleagues have given me the nickname the Thugbrarian. Rather than fight it, I have decided to own it. There you go. I am also a musician, and over the last 25 years, I have performed in quite a few bands , including my current Experimental Electronic project Isolated Cockpit.

I am sent most of the books I read from publishers through sites such as LibraryThing, Goodreads, and NETGALLEY, as well as directly from publishers and authors, in exchange for an honest review. This blog is written for people like myself- men and women who love darker music and Adult books. I love reading history books and most non-fiction titles, but I also read a lot of Science Fiction/Fantasy, Literary Fiction, Horror, Graphic Novels and good Contemporary Fiction, as well as crime pulps and thrillers. I do not read or review any genre that has the word paranormal, or romance in it, especially Paranormal Romance. That said, I am only going to review the type of books that I love to read, and hopefully as the blog moves forward, my favorites will be your favorites.

I won’t waste time with bad reviews-if I don’t like it, I won’t mention it because life is too short. I will also be reviewing new CDs, records and digital music that I am listening to at the moment. This will be mostly Indy, Post-Punk, Metal, Ambient, Garage and Experimental music, with the occasional World Music, Classical, or Jazz record thrown in, because I like all GOOD music, just like you my intelligent, and cool friends. I invite all publishers and bands to send me their books or music for review to the address listed at the bottom of this page.

Finally, I am always open to answering questions and hearing your recommendations, so talk to me, I am listening. Why not connect to my Twitter and Facebook pages? You will find links to both to the right of this page. I look forward to growing this blog, and discussing my favorite books and music with you, and I plan on adding more pages and features as we move ahead, so stay tuned and thanks for visiting the Thugbrarian Review.

Hi, J. Annaruma. I’m an active member of the Horror Writers Association with my first novel being published by an independent, Larry Czeronka
Publishing. INK is a horror novel, coming out at the end of June,
co-written with my writing partner, Dale Pitman. As for my background,
I’ve been a professional screenwriter up until this point with two films directed
by acclaimed horror director Wes Craven. Would you consider looking at an
Advanced Review Copy? Here is the blurb:

His studio has become his refuge and his prison – a place of boundless imagination and lonely isolation. Brian Archer, creator of a series of successful graphic novels about a vengeful supernatural being called “The Highwayman,” has become a recluse after the adoration of a female fan turned to rage and violence.

But all that changes when he meets a renowned and beautiful illustrator, A.J. Hart, who carries emotional scars of her own. Their work together is fueled by the unrequited passion they share and a mysterious bottle of black ink
that arrives one day at Brian’s doorstep.

The impossibly dark liquid has mystical properties, making their characters appear so real they eventually come to life, reigning terror on those who mean them harm and if not stopped—threatens to unleash an apocalypse on all mankind. Brian must break free of his self-imposed exile and solve the mystery that allowed these terrible creatures into the world.

Thanks for your consideration. All the best, Glenn Benest

  2. Hi, J. Annaruma
I have written two books titled:
    How to Prevent Recession
using Ancient Wisdom and Management Ideas
Foreword by His Holiness the Dalai Lama
    The foreword concludes as follows:
“,,,This is a very profound concept put in a very simple and elegant format”

The second book is ” 156 Questions about How to prevent recession…”

Would you be interested in reviewing this type of work?

    • Hello Satya, while those subjects sound interesting, these are not the type of books that I read and review. Thank you for asking however, and I wish you nothing but good luck and much success with both of your books.
